The prototype can be found in Walsenburg, Colorado. The original use for the building is not known. This is our version of a typical Turn-of-the-Century brick structure and shows some modification of the original structure. All the openings on one side have been closed in and covered over with the original opening outlines showing through the stucco plaster. Also the loading dock at the end appears to have been added and extended. Rails may have served the long side of the structure at one time. The overall condition of the exterior is fair with some of the stucco falling away to reveal the brick structure beneath. The structure could serve many purposes along the right-of way or as an off-line facility.
The kit consists of several highly detailed Hydrocal® castings for the base, docks & walls. The castings include doors, brick & stucco detailing. The base and loading docks have cast in cracks and block details. Two loading docks and steps can be placed as need. Also included are custom made resin castings for the windows, roof sections & the brick chimney. Wood strips are used for interior bracing.
An instruction sheet is included with tips for completing your kit. Construction consists of assembling the wall sections, adding bracing as needed, assembling the roof with chimney and applying the finish of your choice. We even supply a small amount of Hydrocal® to hide the seams. There is no signage included. You may use your favorite lettering method for signs of your choice.
Assembly time is about two evenings for a finely detailed structure to add to your layout. And of course you will want to add additional details of your own to accent the unique character of this building.
