HERMOSA CREEK BRIDGE

The Hermosa Creek Bridge was built by the D&RG Railroad around 1881. It is at milepost 462.4 just North of Durango, Colorado. This style bridge is a Howe Truss type and could be easily constructed using locally available materials. These bridges were usually less than 60 feet in length and used to span small creeks and ditches. A few examples of this type of bridge can still be found today. This kit is designed to N.M.R.A. standards.  Although shown as a 3-Foot Gauge bridge, it can also be used as a 2 or 2-1/2 Foot gauge bridge. The central stringers should be centered below the rails. No other changes are necessary. © 1996-2001

The kit is wood craftsman type that can be assembled in a couple evenings. The novice builder will find the assembly instructions easy to understand and follow to produce a very accurate model of this prototype. The kit features Color-coded stripwood for easy identification. Full-size drawings for use as templates. Grandt Line detail castings and wire for tension rods. Our kit is 47 scale feet in length.
